MINNIE
FORTE, a Special Instructor in Speech in the Department of English at
NCCU, was elected Chair of the Durham School Board on Thursday, July 13, 2006
Forte grew up a few blocks from NCCU and
attended the Child Development Lab on campus while her mother, who earned her
Master’s and Ph.D. degrees at NCCU, became well known as a master teacher
at the university. Such a strong family heritage in education led Forte to be
extraordinarily passionate about her own work with NCCU students today.
Forte is a 1966 graduate of Hillside High in
Durham, NC.
She received her bachelor’s degree in speech and English from
Saint Augustine’s College and earned her
master’s degree in education
