John Albert Hunter is a member of HHS Class of 1958. He was a member of the football and track teams. He was member of Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts Troop #55 led by James A. Schooler, Sr. and Nathaniel White, Sr. at White Rock Baptist Church. He received a football scholarship to North Carolina A&T State University. He later transferred to Winston Salem State University, where he received his undergraduate degrees in Elementary Education with minors in Sociology and Psychology. He received his Masters degrees from Duke University in Educational Administration with minors in Sociology and Psychology. He was a Richardson Fellow with the Learning Institute Center and a member of Kappa Delta Pi, an honor society in education.

His hobbies includes building model airplanes, and working with parents, who have kids in school. He states “ I like to assist in improving parental skills development and create more self-esteem to those who are at risk”. He is a Sunday school teacher and his favorite book is “Before The Mayflower” by Lerone Bennett.
