Past President Jimmy Wilson Retires from VA State

 

 

President Rudolph Burwell and the members of the Hampton Roads VA Chapter announce the retirement of Chief Jimmy L. Wilson of the Virginia State University, Department of Police and Public Safety.

Chief Wilson has been a tremendous leader in the Department and a great asset to Virginia State University. He will be sorely missed. However, we celebrate with him as he moves to higher heights in his life and in his Law Enforcement career.

The university police family invites you to join them for a luncheon held in his honor on Thursday, July 12, 2007 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm at the Outback Steak House located at 165 SouthPark Cir., Colonial Heights, VA.

NOBLE is a public service organization and remains at the forefront of providing solutions to criminal justice issues and addressing public policy in law enforcement at the national level. NOBLE has approximately 4,000 members in the United States and Caribbean who are primarily chiefs of police, sheriffs, heads of federal and state law enforcement agencies, other law enforcement officers at the command level, and educators at institutes of higher learning.

Chief Wilson served as NOBLE's 25th National President and was named as one of the 100+ Most Influential Black Organizational Leaders in the United States in the May 2003 edition of Ebony Magazine.

Editor's note: Following his retirement from the Washington, DC Metropolitan Police Department Chief Wilson went on to serve as Chief of Police in Jackson, MS; Canton, MS; and Suffolk, VA before assuming the helm of the Virginia State University PD. Wilson has 39 years law enforcement experience.

Chief Wilson earned a Masters Degree in Education from Virginia State University, May 2007 and is considering a career change to teaching as an alternative to full retirement.
