Deon Terrell Tedder
SC State University Honors Program scholar Deon T. Tedder has been selected for a summer internship
in the office of U.S. Senator Edward Kennedy (D-MA).
Tedder, a freshman political
science/pre-law major from Durham, N.C., will be assigned to work in one of
Senator Kennedy’s offices, to include his personal office, Health Policy,
Education Policy or Labor Policy offices.
Tedder will also have opportunities through his summer internship to
gain more in-depth knowledge of the Senate and the U.S. Capitol by way of
Congressional Research seminars, issue briefings, hearings and meetings.
“I applied for this internship in the
area of politics and law so I can apprentice under U.S. Congressional figures,
become more educated in political science, hone my leadership skills and
acquire an awareness of the policies and concerns of our nation,” Tedder said.
“Additionally, I wish to gain more knowledge and enhance my skills in the area
of law, so I can become a successful lawyer and future politician,” he said.
In addition to Tedder’s acceptance
into the University’s Honors Program, he graduated in the top 10% of his high
school class out of 394 students, earning him a full, academic General
University Scholarship to SC State as an incoming freshman.
He is a member of Phi Alpha Delta Law
Fraternity, International, and a Freshman Class Senator in the University’s
Student Government Association (SGA).
During the spring 2009 Honors and Awards Convocation, Tedder received a
silver Presidential Medallion for academic excellence in maintaining a 3.5 or

My name is Deon Terrell Tedder
and I am Mr. Hillside for the 2007-2008 school year. I am involved in many
different organizations and community service activities. I was born on April
26, 1990. My parents are Louis and Chandra Tedder. I am currently a senior at
Hillside and I am a member of Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society, National
Achievers, Vice President of the Marching Band, Treasurer of the Kappa
Leadership Development League, member of the S.T.A.R.(Students Taking Academic
Responsibility) Program, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Site Based
Decision Making Committee. Outside of school I am a member of Who's Who among
High School Scholars, the F.U.T.U.R.E.S. Program(For Upward Teens Using
Resources and Empowering Self). I am very active at my church. I am ranked 31
out of 358 students.
This Summer I was selected to
attend a Male Academic Leadership Program at James Madison University in
Harrisonburg, Virginia. I plan to attend college and major in Political
Science and to further my education by attending Law School. As Mr. Hillside I will
be a positive role model for my peers, and I will represent Hillside in a very
positive manner. I have already taken the initiative to make myself a part of the
Student Government Association, so that I can bring my ideas to the table, and
I can become more aware of what are the concerns within the student body. I will be
responsible for making great things happen this year, such as successful events
that will bring pride as well as money to our school. With all of this said,
the most important thing is that I am going to reach all of my goals and this
will be a successful year. As a member of the site based committee I can help
make decisions that will better our school and if anyone has any suggestions,
please let me know and I can pass it on in our meetings, so that we can see that
actions are taken. I am looking forward to meeting each of you, and I am
thankful and glad to be Mr. Hillside 2007-2008.
