Betty Marable Copeland is currently a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Copeland is a psychotherapist, who has provided counseling and support for years. She has provided individual, group, family, and marital therapy to those in need. She has conducted multiple workshops in managing anger, managing stress conflict resolution and in relationship enhancement. Copeland has been a Forensic Screening Examiner for State of North Carolina. Copeland was trained to provide Critical Response Stress Debriefing for care providers during and after natural disasters.

Copeland holds both Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees in Psychology. She was President of North Carolina Association of Black Psychologists for several years. She was Mental Health Training Consultant for Rural Day Care Association for Northeastern North Carolina. She has counseled victims of crime in a program sponsored by NC A&T State University and the State Department of Justice. She founded and presided over the Coalition for Prevention of Adolescent Pregnancy.

Copeland has been active in the Durham community for years. She served on the Durham City Board of Education for eight years, and served as Vice-Chairperson. She has taught various psychology courses at North Carolina Central University and Durham Technical Community College.

Copeland has been listed in multiple Marquis and National Reference Who’s Who: “Who’s Who Among Black Americans;” “Who’s Who Among Human Services Professionals;” “Who’s Who In Medicine and Healthcare;” “Who’s Who of Professional and Business Women;” Who’s Who of American Women;” and  “Who’s Who of Women Executives.”
