Lockheed Martin Corporation
Senior Vice-President, Corporate Strategic Development
With a staff of 11 professionals and
reporting to the Chairman/CEO of a $32B+ aerospace systems integration
enterprise, responsible for overall corporate and business strategy
development, technology commercialization and strategic partnerships and joint
ventures. After September 11, 2001,
assigned as corporation’s focal point for Homeland Security activities. Additional responsibilities as chairman of
the corporation’s Homeland Security/Government Information Technology Business
Council include development of detailed business and programmatic strategies,
customer relations and coordination of all activities in these two key markets.
Corporate Strategic Development
With staff of
14 professionals and reporting to the Chairman/CEO of a $24B aerospace systems integration
enterprise, responsible for overall corporate and business strategy
development, technology commercialization and key strategic
partnerships/relations. Through the end of 2000, responsibilities also included
management of $400M commercial IT services company, $600M state and local
services business and $1.2B internal IS organization.
President and Chief Operating Officer,
Lockheed Martin Information and Services Sector (I&SS)
Total P&L
responsibility for one of the corporation’s five business sectors, I&SS was
a business with over $6B in revenue and 45K+ IT professionals. The lines of business included commercial IT
systems and services, federal IT systems and services, air traffic management,
state and local services and complex aerospace system development in command,
control, communication, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance. Key accomplishments included:

Sales,
earnings growth;

Improved
cash generation (3 of top 5 companies in Lockheed Martin);
·
Expense
reduction through organization consolidation and process re-engineering;
·
Cultural
and business integration across 18 disparate aerospace heritage companies;

Significant
improvements in new business win-rate (70%+) and customer satisfaction (90%+
award fees)

responsibility for a group of five companies (approximately $2B in revenue,
12,000 IT professionals) in Lockheed Martin’s Information and Services
Sector. Lines of business for the group
included complex system development in command, control, communication,
intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and federal IT systems and
services. Key accomplishments included:

employees) in Lockheed Martin’s Information and Services Sector. Lines of business included avionics
integration, defense electronic systems, postal information systems, submarine
combat systems, federal IT systems and services and command, control, communications
and intelligence. Key accomplishments
included:

Seamless
organizational integration after acquisition by Lockheed Martin of Loral’s
defense and electronics businesses;
·
Solid
financial results -- new orders (15% YTY growth), earnings and cash generation
(10% YTY growth);
·
Strong
program performance improvements, customer satisfaction (focus program award
fees improved from less than 10% to mid-80’s/low 90’s) and key competitive new
business awards (e.g. won New Attack Submarine C3I System)
Loral
Corporation
Total P&L
responsibility for three companies (approximately $2B revenue, 10,000
employees). Lines of business included
avionics integration, electronic systems, postal information systems, submarine
combat systems, federal IT systems and services and command, control,
communications and intelligence. Key
accomplishments included:

Leadership
role in unprecedented acquisition of IBM Federal Systems Company by Loral Corporation;
·
Significant
re-engineering and conversion of administrative and business support systems;
·
Strong
financial performance (sales and earnings grew 10% and cash grew 20%).
IBM Corporation
Total P&L
responsibility for a group of four companies and government marketing and
services organization for commercial products ($2.2B revenue, aerospace
systems; $800M revenue commercial H/W, S/W and services; 16,000
employees). Lines of business included
avionics integration, defense electronic systems, postal information systems,
submarine combat systems, air traffic management systems, federal IT systems
and services, command, control, communication and intelligence, commercial IT
systems and services. Key
accomplishments included:

Strong
program performance (award fees –90%+) and new business win rate (60%+);
·
Diversification
initiatives in federal IT (won Army’s Sustaining Base Information System
program) and international markets (won UK National Air Traffic Services’ New
Enroute Centre Program);
·
Re-engineered
integrated system development process;
·
Recognized
leader in IBM’s ‘Six Sigma’ quality initiatives;
·
Cash
generation 1.5 to 2X EBIT.
Executive Assistant to the
Chairman of the Board, IBM
Responsible for
all operations of the office of the Chairman.
Managed seven administrative assistants (high-potential executives from
across IBM) and provided direct support to the Chairman.
Total P&L
responsibility for multi-faceted aerospace business – approximately $700M
revenue, 3500 employees. Lines of
business included submarine combat systems, defense electronics,
radiation-hardened semiconductor products, integrated training systems and
integrated logistics support. Key
accomplishments included:

Significant
new business diversification accomplishments in undersea surveillance and Army
and Air Force training systems;
·
Major
new business success in radiation-hardened processor market;
·
Consistent
strong program and financial performance through business transactions.
P&L
responsibility for major business areas in defense electronics, integrated
sonar systems, integrated training systems and integrated logistics support
(approximately $400M, 2500 employees).
Additionally responsible for manufacturing and operations for all
Manassas businesses.
IBM
Federal Systems Division
Total P&L
responsibility for $150M revenue, 500-employee business. Prime responsibility included overall system
design, development and support for ground data processing and mobile
processing and communication for the Air Force’s early warning Defense Support
Program.
Responsible for
all aspects of operation of the President’s office.
During this
period, responsible for positions of increasing leadership and technical
responsibility in IBM Federal Systems Division business areas including
intelligence, command and control, and federal and commercial IT.
During this
period, responsible for positions of increasing technical responsibility in IBM
Federal Systems Division business areas including command and control and space
systems in support of NASA at the Johnson Space Center.
